Uro Health Clinic

In fact, everything started with MILITARY MEDICINE, to which we gave our hearts, our love, our everything

We have completed our education with the training, deontology and discipline of the Gulhane Military Medical Academy (GATA), namely the Military Medical School, and have served our army and our nation for years as a medical officer. From the evaluation of our patients to their treatment, we supported each other in every process and always tried to do the best for our patients. Realizing that as of 2021, it is time to say goodbye to our Gülhane, which we love, we decided to embark on a new clinic and a new success story in Istanbul. That’s why we established the Urohealth Clinic for this purpose. We have come to do the best for you, our patients, and to introduce you to new technologies and offer different treatment options.

Laser Prostate Surgery

The name of the surgery changes depending on the laser system used in prostate enucleation surgery:

HoLEP (Holmium YAG laser prostate surgery)
ThuLEP (Thulium YAG laser prostate surgery)
ThuFLEP (Thulium fibre laser prostate surgery)

Each laser has its own unique advantages, but they all offer a safer, more comfortable and faster recovery process.

At Urohealth Clinic, we have been performing HoLEP, ThuLEP and ThuFLEP procedures for over 6 years, with more than 3,000 successful prostate surgeries. We have all the latest laser systems in-house and aim to restore our patients to health as quickly as possible after surgery.

Urohealth Clinic is by your side for safe, modern, and permanent solutions in the treatment of prostate enlargement.

Frequently Asked Questions about Prostate Treatment

Reducing the size of the prostate and relieving pressure on the urinary tract does not negatively affect erections. Having surgery does not create a positive or negative situation for sexual potency. Sexual relations can resume as before after the time period specified by the doctor.

In prostate surgery, closed procedures are performed by entering through the penis. The inner part of the prostate is removed piece by piece, as if peeling it with a knife, down to the outer layer. In laser surgery, the inner tissue of the prostate is vaporised.

A closed prostate surgery takes about one hour to complete. Afterwards, the patient is taken to a room and a catheter is inserted. Depending on the surgical technique and the patient's condition, the catheter remains in place for 1 to 3 days. The hospital stay duration is the same as the catheter retention period. Once the catheter is removed, the patient is discharged after being able to urinate comfortably.

It is the second most common cancer in men after lung cancer. There are three scientifically proven risk factors. Advancing Age: It is found in one in 10,000 men aged 40, but its frequency increases with age. Ethnic Origin: It is more common in black men. Genetics: The incidence rate increases in men with first-degree relatives who have had prostate cancer.

Prostate cancer symptoms may include difficulty urinating, weak urine flow, frequent urination (especially at night), blood in urine or semen, pain during urination or ejaculation, erectile dysfunction, and discomfort in the lower back, hips, or pelvis. Early stages often cause no symptoms, making regular screening important for detection.

Side effects are similar in all closed surgical techniques. The most significant side effect is retrograde ejaculation, where semen flows backwards into the bladder instead of being ejaculated forward during sexual intercourse. This poses no medical or sexual pleasure-related concerns. Additionally, in cases where the prostate has grown excessively towards the bladder, there are surgical procedures that preserve the bladder neck. In such surgeries, the risk of retrograde ejaculation is lower. Finally, none of the surgeries performed for prostate enlargement have any adverse effects on erectile function.

No, it isn't. If you are competent in your work as a surgeon, you will achieve the same result with all of them. It is the surgeon's experience that matters, not the latest fad. In the past, the greenlight laser was all the rage, and it was used on both suitable and unsuitable patients. Subsequently, many patients developed urinary tract strictures.

Even if it is a closed operation, it is still an operation. After the operation, the patient can walk around and go about their daily activities. There are no restrictions. We only offer a few minor recommendations. For example, ‘Do not engage in sexual intercourse immediately.’ The time it takes to resume sexual activity varies from patient to patient, but it is usually around one week. A patient who has undergone surgery for benign prostatic hyperplasia should undergo an annual urological examination, even if they have no complaints. They should also undergo a prostate cancer screening and PSA test.

HoLEP (Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate) is a minimally invasive surgery used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), or enlarged prostate. It involves using a holmium laser to remove excess prostate tissue blocking urine flow. The removed tissue is then cut into small pieces and removed through the bladder. HoLEP offers precise tissue removal, minimal bleeding, shorter hospital stay, and faster recovery compared to traditional surgery, making it an effective long-term treatment for urinary symptoms caused by prostate enlargement.

Rezum therapy is an innovative and minimally invasive method used for benign prostatic hyperplasia. Increasingly preferred in recent years, this method involves applying steam energy to the prostate tissue. Sterile steam, generated by a device, is delivered to the prostate tissue through the urethra. The high heat from the steam causes sudden damage to the prostate cells, and over time, the prostate shrinks. This leads to a rapid reduction in urinary symptoms.

Robotic surgery may not be suitable for every patient or every condition. Therefore, the best decision should be made after consulting with an experienced surgical team.

Prostate enucleation surgery involves removing the inner tissue of the prostate from its capsule using a laser. This method falls under the category of closed prostate surgery and is currently the most recommended surgical option for treating prostate enlargement.
